Rayner Racks up Four RBIs in Georgia State's 6-4 Win Against Western Carolina

ATLANTA --Sophomore Jordan Rayner collected four RBIs to help power the Georgia State Panthers over the Western Carolina Catamounts 6-4 on Wednesday.

Senior Kate Kastelic (2-1) started in the circle and picked up the win for Georgia State (6-14). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out six.

Rayner went 1-for-2 with a home run in addition to her four RBIs for the Panthers. Senior Jaycee Goodwin put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Lauren Brister also contributed for Georgia State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the second inning. Georgia State scored three times, all of them coming across on a three-run homer off the bat of Rayner.

The Catamounts failed to push any runs across before the Panthers built on their lead in the fourth inning. Brister came across to score the lone run of the inning for Georgia State, which brought the Panthers lead to 4-2.

Western Carolina narrowed Georgia State's lead to 4-3 before the Panthers stretched the advantage to 6-3 in the sixth inning. The Panthers picked up two runs off of Western Carolina pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double off the bat of Goodwin. Western Carolina put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Georgia State still held on for the 6-4 win.
