ATLANTA - Georgia State fell 11-1 to Michigan in five innings in their home opener at Bob Heck Field on Sunday afternoon.
Chloe Middlebrooks gave Georgia State (1-9) its only hit with a double in the bottom of the first and reached third with two outs but couldn't score.
Michigan (5-4) jumped out to a commanding 8-0 lead with three runs in the second inning, two in the third, and three more in the fourth.
GSU scored their only run in the fourth inning on a double-steal by Middlebrooks and
Kiki Edwards.
The Woverines would then add three more runs in the fifth and hold the Panthers scoreless to secure the run-rule win.
Georgia State will host Kennesaw State on Tuesday, February 18 at Bob Heck Field at 6:30 p.m.
