Georgia State Mourns Loss of Daniel Medellin

ATLANTA—The Georgia State community mourns the loss of golf student-athlete Daniel Medellin, who tragically passed away Thursday evening.

Medellin was a strong student-athlete, excelling both in the classroom and on the golf course. A native of Colombia, Medellin transferred to Georgia State for the 2023-24 academic year and quickly became an integral part of the men's golf team. His commitment to excellence, both on the golf course and in the classroom, was unwavering. In addition to his athletic achievements, he was a cherished leader among his peers, exemplifying the values of hard work, perseverance and positivity.

"Daniel exemplified what it means to be a Panther," Georgia State Men's Golf Head Coach John Michal Cole said. "His infectious smile, love for the game of golf and his process to chase the best will always be remembered."
