GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Panthers saw their first preseason action of the fall when they traveled to the University of Florida for the ITA Southeast Regional Championship on October 8-10. They competed well against strong competition including a victory in the opening round of the doubles tournament.
QUALIFIER ROUND OF 64 - SINGLES
Sota Minami bounced back to a 7-5 win in the second set of his opening round matchup with Kennesaw State's Ben Hudson after falling 6-1 in the first. Hudson took the deciding set 6-2 to eliminate Minami. Aryan Singh also pushed his first round draw to three sets, dropping one set and winning the next by identical 6-2 scores, before falling 6-1 to Florida Atlantic's Luca Miremont in the third.
Gustav Andersson also fell to an opponent from Boca Raton, dropping straight sets against FAU's Bullion Sharp.
QUALIFIER CONSOLATION ROUND - SINGLES
In his second action of the qualifier, Andersson traded 6-2 set victories with Kennesaw State's Erik Vladimirov before dropping the deciding set 10-6. Minami and Singh fell in straight sets to their second round opponents.
ROUND OF 64 - DOUBLES
The opening round of the doubles tournament saw the duo of Singh and
Gabriele Datei take their draw with Georgia Tech by a score of 8-6. Andersson and Minami fell in their pairing with FAU 8-5.
ROUND OF 32 - DOUBLES
The second round saw Singh and Datei battle to a tiebreaker with a team from the University of Miami, eventually falling 7-5 in the deciding set.
