Panthers Collect Three First-Place, 18 Top Five Finishes at KMS Invited

ATLANTA- Georgia State Track and Field brought home three first-place finishes, and 18 top five finishes, from the KMS Invite on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Freshman Marissa Palmer won the 200-meter race with a 24.16 time. 
 
Lilah Palmer followed in the 200-meter, clocking a 25.95 time to finish fourth overall in the event. Lailah Palmer also brought home a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter event with a 7.76 time. 
 
Aniyah Mosley also took first in the weighted throws, recording a 14.91-meter throw. 
 
Georgia State also had first and second place finishes in the 4x400 relay event. Georgia State A team (Shadae Worrell, Dania Staley, Marissa Palmer, Brittney Green) took a first place with a 3:51.36 time. Georgia State B team (Justein Whyte, Laila Eiland, Laure Kidukula, Marissa Palmer) followed closely with a 3:52.10 time. 
 
 
Shadae Worrell and Brittney Green led the pack in the 400-meter event, taking a second and third place finish in the event. Junior Worrell recorded a 57.64 time in the event to take runner-up, while Green clocked a 58.58 time to finish third overall. 
 
Valissa Brown and Kayli Williams led the Panthers through hurdles, once again, finishing in second and third place in the 60-meter hurdles. Brown clocked an 8.48 time to take second overall, while Williams followed closely behind with an 8.62 time. 
 
Valissa Brown also recorded a second-place finish in the long jump after recording a 5.71-meter distance. 
 
Kennedy Jacquet and Ronasche Fluker also brought home second and third place finishes in the triple jump event. Jacquet took second with an 11.63-meter jump, while Fluker recorded an 11.29-meter jump to finish third. 
 
Senior Maleah Heard finished third overall in another 60-meter dash with a 7.61 time. 
 
 
Sophomore Laure Kidukula also finished third overall in her event, clocking a 1:39.02 in the 600-meter event. Kidukula was followed by freshmen Ruqayyah Bryd in seventh (1:43.34) and Kyla Ramey in eighth overall (1:46.34). 
 
Julia Martinez finished second overall in the mile race after finishing with a 5:32.41 time. Martinez also took fifth overall in the 800-meter event after recording a 2:31.50 time. 
 
Distance runner Mencia Maruri finished second overall in the 3000-meter race with a 10:21.13 time.  
 
NOTES:  The Panthers are back on the track on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at Texas Tech for the Stan Scott Invite.
