Sandy Panthers Upset No. 8 LSU; Finish 2-2 at Diggin' Duals

ATLANTA –After dropping two matches on Friday, No. 15 Georgia State (15-10) rebounded with victories over No. 8 LSU and Southern Miss at the GSU Beach Complex on Saturday. The tournament marks the end of home competition for the 2024 campaign. Seniors Lila Bordis, Angel Ferary, Bella Ferary, and Maren Palmer along with 5^th year, Elise Saga, were honored during the event.

Destiny White and Savannah Ebarb led the Sandy Panthers' charge throughout the tournament. The duo went undefeated, primarily playing in the third position. Overall, the pair have registered 18 wins this season.

Tournament Notes:

Friday morning, GSU fell to FGCU, marking the first loss in program history to the Eagles.
Despite a massive comeback effort, Georgia State stumbled against No. 17 Stetson to close the first day of action.
Elise Saga//Aliisa Vuorinen, Lila Bordis//Aree Keller, and Destiny White//Savannah Ebarb all compiled wins against LSU.
The victory over the Tigers is the first since 2018 and is the highest ranked win since the 2022 victory over No. 2 TCU in the NCAA Championships.
The Panthers remain undefeated in Sun Belt action, 7-0, after today's win over Southern Miss.
The 5-0 win over Southern Miss marks the 7th sweep of the year, the 6th over Sun Belt opposition.
Cassie Thayse//Ayla Johnson's win over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles marks their first win as a pair this season.

Up Next:

The Sandy Panthers head back west to face Boise State, Oregon, and Washington on April 12 in the Alki Beach Invitational.
The matches will be the first against each program in Panther history.
