ATLANTA -- Making its third straight trip to National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship and fifth overall, Sun Belt Conference champion Georgia State earned the No. 14 seed and will face No. 3 seed Stanford in the opening round.
The 2024 NCAA National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship is scheduled for May 3-5 at Gulf Shores Public Beach in Gulf Shores, Ala. The Panthers and Stanford will meet Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m. ET, and the match be nationally televised air on ESPNU.
Head coach
Beth Van Fleet's Panthers earned their automatic bid by winning their third straight conference championship, including back-to-back Sun Belt Conference titles.
The Panthers are led by the two-time All-Sun Belt duo of
Angel Ferary and
Bella Ferary, seniors and twin sisters who are the winningest pair in program history. Georgia State's No. 2 pair of
Lila Bordis and
Aree Keller and No. 3 pair of
Destiny White and
Savannah Ebarb were also named first-team All-Sun Belt.
Georgia State did not face Stanford this season, but the Panthers did play 11 matches against teams in the field, including victories over No. 11 seed LSU and No. 13 seed Washington.
In addition to their current run of three straight NCAA berths, Georgia State made appearances in the national championship tournament in 2015 (then known as the AVCA Championship) and 2016. GSU's most successful tournament was in 2022, when the Panthers won a pair of matches, including an upset of No. 2 TCU, and reached the final six.
