HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Georgia State softball team dropped a three game series against James Madison on Saturday afternoon.
GAME THREE | JMU 8, GSU 1 | March 30
The Georgia State Panthers struggled on Saturday, falling to the JMU Dukes 8-1 despite the efforts of sophomore Maia Mumpfield, who went 1-for-3 with a double.
Junior Kate Kastelic (1-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Georgia State (9-23, 1-8).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Junior Chloe Middlebrooks came across to score the lone run of the inning for Georgia State and get them on the board. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as JMU added five runs to their tally on the way to an 8-1 final.

The Georgia State Panthers struggled on Friday, falling to the JMU Dukes 6-1 despite the efforts of junior Chloe Middlebrooks, who went 2-for-4 with a double.
Junior Emily Hodnett (0-4) got the ball to start for Georgia State (9-23, 1-7) and took the loss.
Offensively, the Panthers were paced by Middlebrooks, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Senior Carolyn Deady put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Ashton Schroyer also chipped in for Georgia State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Georgia State got an RBI single from Deady, scoring senior Chloe Nadler from third base. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as JMU added one run to their tally on the way to a 6-1 final.

Senior Chloe Nadler put together an outstanding outing at the plate Thursday, hitting two homers, but the Georgia State Panthers fell to the JMU Dukes 12-6.
Freshman Makayla Stephens (2-4) took the loss in the circle for Georgia State (9-22, 1-6).
Nadler went 3-for-3 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with four RBIs. Junior Chloe Middlebrooks added to Nadler's awesome power-hitting performance by going 2-for-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Nadler's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Georgia State.
The Panthers then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the second inning after the Dukes cut it to 2-1. Sophomore Ashton Schroyer came across to score the lone run of the inning for Georgia State, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Panthers.
JMU fought back to tie the ballgame at three before Georgia State reclaimed a 5-3 advantage in the third inning. The Panthers added two to their tally on Nadler's two-run homer to center.
Georgia State lost the lead they built in the third, but got back on the scoreboard in the sixth trailing 10-5. The Panthers pushed across a run on Nadler's leadoff home run off senior Alissa Humphrey, tightening the JMU lead to 10-6. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as JMU added two runs to their tally on the way to a 12-6 final.
