ATLANTA, GA --After holding the game at five through seven innings, the Georgia State Panthers fell 9-5 in a nine-inning matchup to the Ball State Cardinals Saturday.
Junior Sydney Boulware (1-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Georgia State (4-11).
Offensively, the Panthers were paced by senior Carolyn Deady, who went 2-for-3 on the day with two walks and two RBI. Junior Jaycee Goodwin put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Senior Chloe Nadler also contributed for Georgia State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Georgia State scored three times in the inning on a single from Deady that pushed all three runs across.
The Cardinals then tied the ballgame at three before the Panthers came back to reclaim their advantage in the third inning. Sophomore Maia Mumpfield came across to score the lone run of the inning for Georgia State, which brought the Panthers lead to 4-3.
Georgia State kept Ball State without a run before building their lead to 5-3 the following inning. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Ball State scored six times over the remaining five innings to grab the 9-5 win.
