ATLANTA-- Georgia State softball announces four signees to the 2025-26 roster, the first recruiting class to join Georgia State softball under the leadership of head coach Becca Owens.
"This is a very exciting day for Georgia State Softball. With the addition of the 2025 signing class the program is on track for reaching new heights," head coach Becca Owens said. "Each one of them is an impact player and brings a unique set of skills. Being my first signing class as a Head Coach, this class holds a special place in my heart. I truly believe we are bringing in the right personnel to execute the over vision and goals for the program. These young women are Panthers through and through and represent the "Panther Way" seamlessly. I'm more than happy welcoming them into the program and can't wait to see the impact they have next year."
Meet the Panthers' fall signees:
KYA WALKER
INF, C | R/R | Alpharetta, Ga. (Chattahoochee High School)
Four-year letter-winner from Chattahoochee High School who earned 6A All-State in her senior season… 2024… 2024 Triple Crown International Challenge select…MSP All-American… 2023 6A All-Region honoree…
Played seven years of travel ball where she earned recognition as the eighth ranked catcher in the southeast … Great bat-to-ball skills that are displayed through her career .366 batting average … An excellent fielder with a .960 fielding percentage over 4 years as a varsity starter.
"We are super excited to have Kya apart of our team," Owens said. "She brings a strong bat and lots of versatility on defense. Kya, has a strong presence behind the plate and a consistent demeanor that is crucial to a great pitcher-catcher relationship. She is an excellent communicator, which allows her to connect with a wide range of teammates and coaches. One of the things I love most about Kya is the willingness she possesses to help those around her. She is a great teammate, and will no doubt be a glue person for this team her entire 4 years."
ERIN ROBINSON
RHP| R/R | Douglas, Ga. (Coffee High School)
A right-handed pitcher from Coffee High School who sits atop her high school's record books for strikeouts with a grand total of 671… holds the record for single-season strikeouts (245) and single-game strikeouts (20)… A two-time MVP with a career ERA of 0.9 … Two-time All-Region Pitcher of the Year… Three-Time All-Region pitcher… Ranks top 200 nationally and top 70 in the state of Georgia… A heady player that very rarely walks batters and looks to be a contributor right away.
"Erin is a great addition to our staff in the circle," Owens said. "She is a dynamic pitcher with an extremely competitive edge that bleeds through when she's on the mound. Her mental toughness and grit make her a teammate that people want to follow when times are tough. She's had high level coaching throughout her development process and because of that she has a game IQ that is far above the norm for her age. We're excited to have Erin as a key part of this program and we can't wait to see what she does as a Panther."
MAYA BAGSBY
OF, MIF | L/L | Columbus, Ga. (Columbus High School)
Utility player with the versatility to play infield and outfield … A dynamic bat that posted a .461 career batting average … Ranked within the top 400 nationally and top 150 within the state … A proven winner placing top two in the region all four years as a starter… Nominated and played in the GACA All-star game (2024)… Ranked #15 in the nation for outfielding and #5 overall in the Southeast Region by extra innings (2024)… Two-Time Region Player of the Year(2023-2024)… Region Offensive Player of the Year (2022)… 2021 All-Region First- Team (2021)… Holds multiple career and single season records at Columbus High (2023-2024)… WTVM Scholar athlete of the week (2023).
"Maya is an incredible athlete that brings a hard-to-find mix of speed and power, Owens said. "Offensively and defensively, she's a standout player who makes the game look easy. Maya's athleticism and knowledge of the game make her a true utility. As a staff, we feel like she can succeed at a high level no matter where we put her on the field. In the box, Mya is a fierce competitor who isn't afraid to use all her tools to find away on base. We're more than excited to see the immediate impact she brings to the team next year."
BRYNN BELSTLE
RHP| R/R | Fayette, Mo. (New Franklin High School)
A right-hander from New Franklin High School in Fayette, Mo. … Two-time Conference MVP… Three-time All-District… Three-time All-Region… Two-time All-State… Three-time All-Conference … Two-time District Champion… Optimist Sportsmanship honoree… NEMO Pressbox All-Star Team… Alliance HFL All-Tournmanet Team… Has great command over her pitches leading to her becoming New Franklin's all-time strikeout leader… Brings a winning mentality to the Panthers becoming conference champs twice.
"Brynn is an elite level pitcher that comes from a very competitive travel ball program," Owens said. "She has participated in some of the nation's most competitive tournaments and will use that experience to thrive in the Sun Belt Conference. She is calm and collected in big moments which makes her a go to pitcher when the pressures on. Her success throughout her high school career truly speaks for itself and were looking for her to continue that level of success at Georgia State."
