ATLANTA, -- Georgia State got a pair of goals from Aaliyah Faddoul in a 3-0 shutout win against Coastal Carolina at the GSU Soccer Complex.
Georgia State dominated possession and had nearly all the scoring chances in the first half of play, but could not find the opening goal. The Panthers finished the half with a six to zero advantage in corner kicks and did not allow a Coastal Carolina shot until the last minute of the half.Â
GSU opened the scoring as Aaliyah Faddoul beat the goalie on a pass from Jimena Cabrero in the 58'Â minute. The Panthers only waited eight more minutes before Aaliyah Faddoul found Bree Barley, who headed it past the goalie for her first goal of the season. Six minutes later, in the 72'Â minute, Georgia State would put the game out of reach when Aaliyah Faddoul capitalized on a Coastal Carolina turnover and beat the goalie once again for her seventh goal of the season.
The goal by Bree Barley brings the total number of Panthers who have scored up to 13. The Panthers now have 28 goals this season in 10 games.Â
The Panthers recorded 17 shots as a team, with eight on target, while they limited the Chanticleers to only four shots, with just one on target for the entire game.
The win improved Georgia St.'s record to 6-1-3 overall and 2-0-0 in Sun Belt play.
The Panthers return to the pitch on Friday Sept. 29th at home against Texas State. Â
