LAFAYETTE, LA – Georgia State(18-36) fell to ULM (25-31) on Wednesday night in round one of the Sun Belt Championship tournaments at Lamson Park, 4-1, to the season.
ULM battled from the very beginning after hitting a solo homerun in the first inning before entering a weather delay due to lightning in the area.
Down 0-1, the Panthers tied it up on a rbi double by
Jaycee Goodwin in the third. The sophomore designated player led the team, going three for four on the night.
The Warhawks had a big inning in the sixth scoring three runs on three hits and an error.
The Panthers tried to rally in seventh as Goodwin was back at the plate with two outs and bases loaded, caused by
Jackie Gonzalez reaching on a fielder's choice, a single by
Emily Brown and
Ashton Schroyer being walked, but could not capitalize.
Sophomore transfer,
Kate Kastelic, (0-3) pitched six innings only letting up five hits and one unearned run. This was her third game starting in the circle for the Panthers, the last one being last Saturday against Southern Miss.
Georgia State Softball would like to thank all the fans who continued to support the Panthers all season long. We hope to see you next season at the
Bob Heck Softball Complex.
