Panthers Fall to Chattanooga in Midweek Doubleheader

ATLANTA -- Georgia State(13-24, 2-7 Sun Belt) dropped both games against Chattanooga(17-16, 0-3 SoCon) on Wednesday evening, 5-4 and 5-1. The Panthers are now on a seven game losing streak heading into conference play against JMU.

In game one, Chattanooga's bats were rolling in the top of the third scoring five runs on three hits, one a three-run home run.

Kate Kastelic came in to relieve Elle Doolittle, allowing only two hits and no runs for the next four innings.

Panthers loaded the bases in the bottom of the third but could not answer back. It wasn't until the fifth inning that the Panthers finally got on the board.

Emily Brown scored on a little league home run after hitting a triple, then scoring on a throwing error. Chloe Middlebrooks then reached on an error and stole a base to be in scoring position. Chloe Nadler was walked to then set up Bailee Richardson for a three- run home run. That would be her seventh home run of the season and put her back in the lead for the Panthers.

That was all the Panthers could manage as they fell 5-4.

Elle Doolittle received the loss putting her at 6-6 on the season after giving up seven hits and five runs.

Chattanooga, fired up from the previous win, blasted four home runs on the Panthers. Three of those came in the fourth, one a two-run homer.

The Panthers would try to come back scoring only one run on Ashton Schroyer's rbi triple but fell to the Mocs, 5-1.

Emily Hodnett fell to 4-9 on the season after the loss as she gave up three of the home runs that resulted in four runs.

The Panthers will be back in action in conference play as they take on James Madison tomorrow in a doubleheader and Friday at noon. Thursday's doubleheader will not be streamed on ESPN+, Friday is to be determined.
