No. 14 Sandy Panthers Sweep Coastal Carolina, 5-0, Advance to SBC Title Match

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.— No. 14-ranked Georgia State beach volleyball posted a 5-0 sweep facing Coastal Carolina at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala. on Thursday to secure a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Championship title match. With the win over the No. 3-seeded Sandy Chants, head coach Beth Van Fleet and the top-seeded Sandy Panthers have now charted three consecutive shutout victories at the conference tournament with wins in straight sets at every flight for all three matches.

Yasmin Kuck and Lila Bordis earned GSU its first point for dual match play on Friday, as the pair downed opponents at the second flight with a dominant 21-16, 21-9 win in straight sets. Maddy Delmonte and Ayla Johnson charted a 21-16, 21-16 victory at the fourth flight to give the Sandy Panthers a 2-0 lead for the dual.

GSU clinched the dual match victory with a 21-16, 21-12 win by Kelly Dorn and Elise Saga at the third flight. Playing out competition, Destiny White and Aliisa Vuorinen notched a 21-19, 21-18 victory at the fifth court to give GSU a 4-0 lead.

Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary rounded out the teams' 5-0 sweep with a 21-19, 21-13 win at the top flight, and the top-seeded Sandy Panthers secured a spot in Saturday's Sun Belt Championship match.

Top-seeded GSU enters the SBC Title set to face the winner of Saturday's play-in match between No. 3 seed Coastal Carolina and No. 6 seed Southern Miss. The championship outing is slated for 2 p.m. ET and will be contested at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala.
