Ferary Sisters Named Sun Belt Conference Pair of the Week

ATLANTA— After charting a 3-0 performance and helping lead the No. 11-ranked Georgia State beach volleyball team to an unbeaten 3-0 mark at the Gamecock Grand Slam last weekend, sisters Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary have been named Sun Belt Conference Pair of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday. 

Teaming at the top flight for the Sandy Panthers, the Ferary duo notched a dominant 21-12, 21-9 victory over Tampa to open dual match tournament competition in Columbia. The pair followed up the performance with a second win in straight sets facing Arizona State. 

The second day of competition saw the sisters battle host and No. 16 ranked South Carolina at the first flight, as the pair capped the unblemished weekend by posting a three-set victory over the Gamecocks to clinch match point for the Sandy Panthers. The win earned GSU its undefeated 3-0 record for the tournament, and helped the No. 11 Sandy Panthers improve to 13-7 on the season. 

The Ferary sisters have currently accounted for 12 wins for GSU in 2023. The pair has appeared at the top flight for the Sandy Panthers in all but two duals since entering the spring.

The duo will once again look to help lead the team this weekend as the Sandy Panthers travel to Manhattan Beach, Calif. and gear up for East Meets West, hosted by No. 2 UCLA. The tournament out west will feature dual matches against four consecutive teams with a top-8 national rank or greater, including host and second-ranked UCLA, No. 2 USC, No. 7 LMU and No. 8 Hawaii.
