Montgomery, Ala.– Georgia State (7-11) scored in the eighth inning to defeat Alabama State (9-4), 3-2, at Barbara Williams Softball Complex Tuesday night, giving head coach Angie Nicholson her 450th career win.
The Panthers were the first on the board after
Emily Brown was walked and proceeded to steal second on a wild pitch. Brown scored from second as Alabama State made an error on a hit by Schroyer.
Alabama State took the lead after earning five hits and two runs in the bottom of the second.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Hornets rewarded the Panthers with free bases on a walk and a hit by pitch. Schroyer scored on an error and tied up the game.
In the eight inning two singles earned a run for the Panthers who then held off the Hornets in the bottom of the eighth for the win.
Hallie Adams was awarded the win after relieving
Elle Doolittle in the third . She threw four hitless innings and six strikeouts through 4.2 innings and improved to 2-3 on the season.
The Panthers will be back in action on Friday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex as they take on Brown in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. ET.
