No. 15 Panthers Open Inaugural C-USA Beach Volleyball Championship Thursday vs. Southern Miss

Huntsville, Ala— Finishing the regular season posting a 22-11 overall record for the spring, the No. 15 ranked Georgia State beach volleyball team will open play at the inaugural 2022 Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship in Huntsville, Ala. on Thursday, April 28. Head coach Beth Van Fleet and the Panthers enter the tournament with a 5-3 mark for conference competition and will compete at the championship as the No. 3 overall seed.

GSU closed its regular season on Saturday with a conference victory, 4-1, over C-USA foe Coastal Carolina. With the third win facing the Chanticleers this spring, the Panthers chart a sweep, 3-0, in outings against the conference opponent this season.

Playing in the team's fourth flight, Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary have accumulated 31 victories with only two losses on the year facing No. 1 UCLA and No. 5 TCU. The pair has downed nationally-ranked opponents 17 times this spring.

No. 15 GSU will open play at the inaugural championship in Huntsville on Thursday, April 28 with a match facing No. 6-seeded Southern Miss. The victor will play the winner of second-seeded No. 14 Florida International versus No. 7 seed ULM on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.

With a double-elimination format for tournament competition, the loser of each match will square off on Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m. ET with the opportunity to extend championship play. The conference championship match is slated for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 30 and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Dual match tournament competition will be held at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex. A VIP tournament experience will be offered for fans with tickets available for purchase on the web using the link attached.
