Beach Volleyball Closes Regular Season with Conference Victory Over Coastal Carolina

Conway, S.C.— The No. 15 ranked Georgia State beach volleyball team closed out its regular season competition with a victory over Conference USA opponent Coastal Carolina on Saturday. The Sandy Panthers finish with a 22-11 overall record for the season with a 5-3 mark for conference play and will enter the C-USA Tournament Championship on Thursday, April 28. 

Sophomores Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary chart a 31-2 final record for regular season dual match tournament play with a victory in straight sets, 21-10, 21-13, at the fourth flight for GSU. The duo finishes unbeaten in conference play and has downed nationally ranked opponents 17 times this spring.

Chloee Kleespies and Ayla Johnson teamed to defeat opponents at the fifth flight, 21-12, 25-23, adding to the Panthers lead, 2-0. After GSU dropped at the second flight, top pair Elise Saga and Kelly Dorn won at court No. 1 in three sets, 21-17, 19-21, 15-12, giving the Panthers a 3-1 advantage. 

No. 3 pair Kayla Whetstone and Yasmin Kuck downed opponents at the third flight, 21-15, 21-9, and clinched the victory, 4-1, in favor of GSU. With the win, GSU posts a sweep, 3-0, over Coastal Carolina for the season. 

No. 15 GSU will open play at the inaugural 2022 Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship in Huntsville, Ala. on Thursday, April 28. The Panthers enter the tournament as the No. 3 overall seed for the double elimination tournament and will face No. 6-seeded Southern Miss on Thursday with a match time slated for 1 p.m. ET.

Dual match tournament competition will be held at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex. Additional information will be posted on the web and to the team's social media accounts leading up to the championship tournament in Huntsville.
