Panthers Close Out Weekend 3-0, Defeat Host No. 18 South Carolina on Saturday

Columbia, S.C.— The No. 14 ranked Georgia State beach volleyball team closed out competition at the Palmetto Invitational on Saturday with a victory over host No. 18 South Carolina, 3-2. The Panthers move to 21-11 on the season after the perfect 3-0 weekend and will close out regular season competition in a match against Conference USA opponent Coastal Carolina next Saturday, April 23.

Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary secured the first point for the Panthers with a win in straight sets over over South Carolina, 21-16, 21-16, at the No. 4 flight. The pair has charted a 30-2 record for the spring and has defeated ranked opponents 17 times this season.

Becky Tresham and Chloee Kleespies accounted for the team's second point with a win, 21-15, 21-19, at the No. 5 flight for GSU. After narrowly dropping in three-set matches on courts No. 2 and No. 3, top pair Kelly Dorn and Elise Saga secured the team's third point and clinched the seventh consecutive victory for GSU in dual match play.

GSU will travel to Conway, S.C. on Saturday for a third meeting with C-USA foe Coastal Carolina. The Panthers defeated Coastal Carolina in each of its previous two outings against the Chanticleers.

Match time is to be determined and information on live scoring will be posted on the web and to the team's social media leading up to the Panthers' final regular season outing.
