No. 13 Panthers Head to Florida for Stetson Beach Bash

ATLANTA- Coming off a weekend in Gulf Shores that saw the Panthers face four top 20 opponents and finish 2-3 in match play, the Georgia State beach volleyball team will travel to Deland, Fla. for the Stetson Beach Bash on Saturday. GSU's tournament slate will include duals against host No. 18 Stetson as well as Conference USA foes No. 10 FAU, No. 19 FIU and Coastal Carolina.

Checking in at No. 13 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) collegiate beach volleyball poll, the Sandy Panthers enter the weekend 10-7 having opened last week's competition at the March to May in Gulf Shores, Ala. by securing a win in a rematch against then ranked No. 20 Tulane, 3-1. GSU followed up the victory by knocking off host UAB in a shutout, 3-0, and finishing the day 2-0 to move to ten wins.

Despite competitive outings against three top 10 opponents in the second day of tournament play, GSU dropped matches against No. 1 UCLA, 3-2, No. 7 Grand Canyon, 4-1, and a rematch with No. 6 LSU, 4-1.

Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary continued their impressive play as a pair thus far in the spring as the sisters finished the weekend with a 4-1 record in the team's fourth flight. Moving to 15-2 on the season, the duo garnered C-USA Pair of the Week consideration for the performance over the weekend.

GSU kicks off the Stetson Beach Bash with outings against conference opponents No. 19 FIU and No. 10 FAU on Saturday, March 26. Match times are set for 10 a.m. ET facing FIU and 2 p.m. ET facing FAU. The Panthers will battle FAU for the first time since falling to the Owls in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) title match a season prior.

The second day of tournament action in Florida will see a pair of rematches for the Panthers as the team faces Coastal Carolina in an additional C-USA matchup at 8 a.m. ET. GSU secured a shutout victory over Coastal Carolina, 5-0, at home in the spring's first meeting between the teams and will see action against the Chanticleers a total of four times this season.

GSU will conclude the weekend with a dual against host No. 18 Stetson at noon ET. The Panthers previously defeated Stetson, 3-2, at the Horned Frog Challenge in Fort Worth earlier in the season.

Matches will be hosted by Stetson at the Cooper Beach Courts in Deland, Fla. More information regarding live streaming and scoring will be posted to the team's social media accounts leading up to the start of the tournament.
