Fugel Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -- Freshman Brooklynn Fugel is this week's GSU Student-Athlete of the Week after totaling four points in two games for GSU women's soccer.

Fugel and the Panthers defeated Kennesaw State and Mississippi Valley State on Friday and Sunday, respectively, and are riding a three-game win streak heading into their contest Friday night at Furman.

Fugel scored her first collegiate goal in Friday's 2-1 win versus KSU in Atlanta. With the score even at 0-0 in the 49th minute, Jolie Ryff ripped a shot that was saved by the KSU keeper. The ball fell right to Fugel's feet in front of goal and the freshman put the Panthers up 1-0.

She struck again on Sunday in similar fashion. Fugel took advantage of a loose ball in the box and beat the MVSU keeper to give GSU a 2-0 advantage in the 48th minute. The Panthers would go on to win 4-0 to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Next up for Fugel and the Panthers is a trip to Greenville, S.C., on Friday to face Furman at 7 p.m.
