Women's Soccer Hosts Coastal Carolina and Troy this Weekend

ATLANTA -- Georgia State looks to cement its place atop the Sun Belt standings this weekend with home matches Friday and Sunday against Coastal Carolina and Troy.

The Panthers and Chanticleers will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday evening and Sunday's match vs. the Trojans is set for a 1 p.m. start. Admission to both contests is free to the public.

GSU has seven points through its first four conference matches, good for a tie for first place in the league standings. The Panthers are 2-1-1 in the Sun Belt and 7-3-2 overall. Coastal Carolina sits at 1-2 in league play and Troy is 1-2.

The Panthers rank third in the Sun Belt with 2.08 goals per game entering the weekend. Freshman Brooklynn Fugel leads the team with five goals, good for sixth in the Sun Belt.

Georgia State split its two meetings vs. CCU last season, falling 4-2 in the first game and winning 2-1 in OT in the second. GSU and Troy met three times in 2020. The Panthers earned a 1-1 draw at Troy, a 1-0 win at home, and a 6-1 win at the Sun Belt Championship in Foley, Ala.
