ATLANTA- After a 2-1 outing at the College of Charleston Beach Classic last weekend, GSU Beach returns home to host the annual Diggin' Duals event this weekend. No. 19 Georgia State will host CCSA rivals in Southern Miss and No. 18 South Carolina on Friday. The Sandy Panthers will recognize eight seniors and fifth-years: Bekah Brodbeck, Maddie Gordon, Eden Hawes, Mattie Johnson, Meagan McCall, Kaylee McClure, Kate Novack, and Olivia Stasevich, before facing the same squads Saturday afternoon.
Georgia State (17-10) will look to continue a string of success defending the home sand. The Panthers were a perfect 3-0 earlier this season at the annual Day of Duals, collecting wins over Mercer, Coastal Carolina, and Chattanooga. The Panthers have registered a 14-1 record in downtown Atlanta over the previous three seasons. Â
GSU will have two opportunities to prove themselves against each visiting squad. The Sandy Panthers have squared-off against both teams this season. Georgia State first saw Southern Miss during opening weekend at the Seminole Classic. The Panthers emerged victorious with a 5-0 sweep. In the first meeting against the Gamecocks, South Carolina surpassed GSU in a nail-biting contest 3-2 in front of a home crowd at Wheeler Beach.Â
Admission to all Georgia State beach volleyball events is free and parking is available for $3 Friday in the G Deck with entrances located on Collins Street, Courtland Street, and Central Avenue. Parking in the G Deck is free on Saturday. Fans can follow along via live stats found here or through live stream via our Twitter page.Â
