Panthers Fall in Regular Season Finale

ATLANTA - Georgia State women's tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to South Alabama in the final regular season match of the season on Sunday afternoon.

The result drops the Panthers to 2-18 on the season while propelling South Alabama to 13-5.

The Panthers (2-17) started at a disadvantage, as only two doubles pairings took the courts. On the top court Ellie Aldrich and Andreea Stanescu, who found a 6-1 decision in last night's conference contest, held a sturdy lead over their opposition. The Jaguars would find a win thought on court two before Stanescu and Aldrich could close their match.

South Alabama collected an additional point as five players took the courts for the blue and white. Andreea Stanescu shined with a 6-0 victory in the first set on the top court. The Jaguars would extend their lead with a straight set result over Angel Carney. The match would close as South Alabama clinched the decision with a win over Maddy Frediani on the fourth court. Stanescu, Aldrich, and Nansi Toskova would halt action after the team loss.

The Panthers will head to Peachtree City Tennis Center Thursday for the Sun Belt Championships. Follow Georgia State women's tennis on Instagram (@GSUWomensTennis) and Twitter (@GSUWTennis) for the latest news and notes.
