ATLANTA- No. 17 Georgia State is returning to Louisiana for the second time this season to battle five opponents in two days at the NOLA Classic. The weekend is highlighted by a rematch with CCSA foe and host No. 20 Tulane.
Action gets underway Friday morning when the Panthers face Texas A&M- Corpus Christi. First serve is slated for 11:15 a.m. ET. Georgia State will immediately return to the courts to face Central Arkansas at 1:00 p.m. ET. GSU will wrap-up the first day of action with a tilt against Spring Hill College set for a 4:30 p.m. ET start. Georgia State is facing Central Arkansas for the first time in program history. Additionally, this will mark the first meeting of the 2021 campaign with the other two competitors.
During the second day of competition, GSU will see familiar foes in Houston Baptist and Tulane. GSU met Houston Baptist earlier this season at the Tiger Beach Challenge, where the Sandy Panthers emerged victorious with a 4-1 decision. Georgia State holds a 4-0 edge in the programs' overall meetings.The two squads will square-off at 11:15 a.m. ET Saturday.
GSU will close the weekend with a 2:45 p.m. ET first serve against host Tulane. The Sandy Panthers improved to a 9-2 all-time record against the CCSA foe, after recording a narrow 3-2 victory over the Green Wave at the March to May Tournament last weekend in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Georgia State (9-6) is coming off their most grueling stretch of the season with 11 duals in nine days. First, GSU collected a trio of wins at the annual Day of Duals in downtown Atlanta. The Panthers saw a quick turnaround, competing in four CCSA tilts over the weekend. Georgia State dropped a pair of top-10 meetings to No. 3 LSU and No. 10 TCU. The team rebounded and delivered a pair of gritty 3-2 results over UAB and Tulane. The Ferary sisters shined in the weekend's contests. Competing as a pair, the rookies won three duals including their first ranked victories as a duo over No. 10 TCU and No. 20 Tulane.
