Johnston's Late Goal Equalizes Against Chanticleers

ATLANTA -- Maddie Johnston scored her third goal of the season with less than three minutes to play Friday night as Georgia State drew 1-1 with Coastal Carolina.

Johnston, who finished with a team-high six shots, scored in the 88th minute off assists from Ana Diaz and Gracen Crosby. Crosby delivered the ball to Diaz just outside the box and Diaz made the final pass to Johnston who put it away to force overtime.
 
Georgia State controlled most of the possession, out-shooting Coastal Carolina 21-8. The Chanticleers scored their goal in the 26th minute from Sarah Allen.

Each side had a shot in the first overtime period with GSU goalkeeper Jaddah Foos making an acrobatic save to keeps things even at 1-1. Foos finished the contest with two saves. GSU put seven shots on frame with CCU keeper Ky Hudson making six saves.

The Panthers are home again Sunday against Troy. Admission to the new GSU Soccer Facility is free to the public.
