Diaz Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

Ana Diaz is this week's GSU Student-Athlete of the Week.

ATLANTA -- Ana Diaz is this week's GSU Student-Athlete of the Week after leading Georgia State to a 1-0 win over Georgia Southern Sunday night.

The freshman's first collegiate goal was a big one. Diaz netted the game-winner Sunday at Center Parc Stadium in the 85th minute to break a scoreless tie and give the Panthers the edge over the Eagles.

The Panthers controlled much of the game but through the first 84 minutes had yet to find the back of the net. Alexis Knox took a free kick in the 85th and delivered a lofted ball into the box. The ball eventually fell to Diaz who drilled it home for the goal.

Diaz and the Panthers are 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Sun Belt. The team travels to Troy on Friday.
