CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In his first singles appearance of the dual season,
Diego Padilha secured a three-set victory for his first clinch of the year to lead the Panthers (5-8) to a 4-3 win over Charlotte (6-7) Sunday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
GSU opened Sunday's contest by sweeping all three doubles matches.

Roberts Grinvalds secured their second ranked doubles win of the season with a 7-6 victory over No. 48 Benjamin Wayand/Henry Lieberman at the No. 1 position.
On court two,

Bailey Showers extended their win-streak to five matches after defeating their opponents 7-5.
Coulaud, Duarte and Padilha picked up wins in singles play to help the Panthers snag the team victory. Coulaud won his third match at the No. 1 position with a 7-5, 6-2 result over Lieberman, Duarte won in straight sets at the No. 3 spot and Padilha earned a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Collin Thomson on court six in his singles debut of the dual season.
Padilha became the fifth different player to clinch a match for GSU this year, joining Coulaud, Grinvalds, Lazo and Showers.
Georgia State is back in action next Sunday for a home contest against VCU at the GSU Clarkston Courts. First serve is set for 1 p.m. ET.
