Beach Earns Record-Setting GPA

The squad's 3.99 GPA is the best by any Panther program on record

ATLANTA- Georgia State beach volleyball continues to set the standard for athletic and academic success. During the fall semester the Sandy Panthers finished with a 3.99 cumulative GPA, a record for any individual Georgia State program. All 16 players earned individual academic honors.

"I am proud of the work each athlete consistently invests into her education," said head coach Beth Van Fleet. "It's inspiring and motivating to get to know and work with this team on a daily basis."

The Sandy Panthers had 11 representatives on the President's List, reserved for students scoring over a 4.00, leading all GSU teams. Freshman Jessica Maxson landed on the list in her first semester of college. Kaylee McClure and Meagan McCall both earned a spot for the first time in their collegiate careers.

It was the second time finishing above a 4.00 for Kate Novack. While Maddy Delmonte, Kelly Dorn, Eden Hawes, Becky Tresham, and Olivia Stasevich all were named to the President's list for the third time. Rounding out beach volleyball's representation, both Georgia Johnson and Bekah Brodbeck hit the 4.0 mark for the fourth time.

The team added four athletes to the Dean's List, reserved for students who score above a 3.50 GPA. Maddie Gordon and Mattie Johnson both earned Dean's List honors for the third straight semester. Presidential scholar, Bailey Hatchett, and graduate transfer, Cara Guthrie, also hit the 3.5 mark.

Freshman Elise Saga was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, reserved for student-athletes that finish the semester with a 3.00 or higher GPA.

"We performed at a level that none of us knew was possible. On this team, we embrace not knowing our limits and simply doing our best," said Van Fleet.
