What you need to know:
*Georgia State fell to No. 3 Florida State 3-2 in the CSSA Semifinal Sunday morning at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia.
*Brooke Weiner and Kate Novack, and Maddy Delmonte and Eden Hawes won matches against the Seminoles.
*Weiner and Novack were selected to the All-Tournament Team after finishing the weekend with a 4-0 mark.
ATLANTA- No. 16 Georgia State beach volleyball fell in the CCSA Semifinal round to No. 3 Florida State by a 3-2 score Sunday morning. For the second straight day Eden Hawes and Maddy Delmonte would win in the number one flight, and Brooke Weiner and Kate Novack would earn a win on court three.
On court three, Novack and Weiner won a pair of 21-17 sets to give the Panthers a point. With the win, the pair extended their winning streak to 14 straight matches. Novack and Weiner were a perfect 4-0 over the weekend earning All-Tournament Team honors.
After trailing early Hawes and Delmonte would fight back into the first set, but ultimately be outlasted 21-19. The pair would answer with a 21-19 win of their own to force a deciding third set. The duo would be victorious in a back and forth battle winning 16-14, knocking off Florida State's top pair.
The Panthers would drop matches on courts two, four, and five to lose the dual 3-2. The top-seeded Seminoles would win 3-0 over LSU in the final.
GSU will await their postseason fate next Sunday, as the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship Selection Show will take place on Sunday, April 28th and will be streamed on NCAA.com. Last season the CCSA featured four squads at the NCAA Championships. The Championships will take place May 3-5 in Gulf Shores, Ala. and will be broadcasted on ESPNU, ESPN2 and ESPN.
