What you need to know:
*Georgia State beach volleyball finished off a perfect 4-0 weekend with wins over College of Charleston and Tampa Saturday at the GSU Beach Complex.
* Three Panther pairs, Brooke Weiner and Kate Novack, Ashley McGinn and Kelly Dorn, and Maddy Delmonte and Eden Hawes were 2-0 on the afternoon.
*GSU finishes 5-1 at home this season, with the lone loss coming to second ranked Southern California.
ATLANTA- Georgia State capped off a 4-0 weekend with a 3-2 win over College of Charleston and a 5-0 sweep of Tampa on day two of the Diggin' Duals event at the GSU Beach Complex. Maddy Delmonte and Eden Hawes, Kelly Dorn and Ashley McGinn, and Kate Novack and Brooke Weiner all were 2-0 on the day.
Seniors Anna Rantala, Ashley McGinn, and Brooke Weiner were honored before the College of Charleston match for their contributions to the GSU Beach program.
McGinn got the Panthers on the board immediately following the Senior Day festivities with a two set win with partner Kelly Dorn on court five. After Charleston tied the dual, Kate Novack and Brooke Weiner put the Panthers up 2-1 taking the point on court three. Maddy Delmonte and Eden Hawes would ensure victory, clinching the dual with a win on court two.
Dorn and McGinn would once again put the Panthers ahead with a two set win to kickoff the weekend finale. On court four Becky Tresham and Maddie Gordon would overcome a large deficit to take a 22-20 first set then cruise to a 21-15 second to make it 2-0 State
Hawes and delmonte would clinch for the second time on the afternoon to make it 3-0 Panthers. The sweep would be complete when Novack and Weiner on court three, and Georgia Johnson and Olivia Stasevich on court one would simultaneously win third sets.
The perfect weekend was the second of the season for Georgia State. The Panthers continued their dominance at home, finishing 5-1 at the GSU Beach Complex this season. State is 21-2 in their last 23 home duals.
Next up for Georgia State is a difficult trip to the Sunshine State. The Panthers will head to Tallahassee to take on CCSA rivals Florida State, FIU, and FAU.
