Panthers Drop Two Duals On Sunday

*Georgia State lost a pair of duals Sunday at the Gamecock Grand Slam.

*Becky Tresham and Maddie Gordon earned two wins on the day. The duo has won 12 of their last 13.

*The Panthers travel to Baton Rouge next weekend for the Bayou Classic.

 

COLUMBIA, S.C.- Georgia State beach volleyball dropped two duals at the Gamecock Grand Slam Sunday in Columbia, South Carolina. The Panthers fell 4-1 to Stetson and 3-2 to UAB. GSU finished the weekend 1-3 at the tournament.

 

For the second straight day, Becky Tresham and Maddie Gordon were 2-0 in the number four flight. The pair has won nine straight matches and have been winners in 12 of their last 13.

 

Georgia State got out to an early 1-0 lead against Stetson via a two set 21-17, 21-18 win on court four from Becky Tresham and Maddie Gordon. The win was the duo's eighth straight victory, but it would be the only win for GSU as the Hatters took points on the other four courts for a 4-1 win.

 

Tresham and Gordon would get their ninth straight win to kick things off against UAB. The 21-12, 21-12 victory gave the Panthers an early 1-0 lead. After dropping matches on courts one and five, Brooke Weiner and Kate Novack would even the score with a three set win on court three. However, UAB would close out a three set win on court two to take the dual 3-2.  

 

Next up for Georgia State is a trip to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Classic. GSU will face host LSU, Southern Miss, Spring Hill, and North Florida over the course of the weekend.
