* No. 8 Georgia State (18-5, 4-2 CCSA) split the first day at the Green Wave Invitational, beating Houston Baptist before losing to No. 7 Arizona.
* The Panthers beat the Huskies 5-0, but lost 3-2 to the Wildcats.
* GSU faces two CCSA opponents on Saturday in Tulane and LSU.
NEW ORLEANS – Competing at the Green Wave Invitational this weekend, Georgia State's eighth-ranked beach volleyball team opened up the competition with a 5-0 sweep of Houston Baptist, but lost in the afternoon to No. 7 Arizona by a score of 3-2.
The 5-0 win over Houston Baptist is the 10th sweep of the season for the Panthers. GSU won each of the flights in two sets against the Huskies. Georgia State had a tougher time versus the Wildcats. Brooke Weiner and Natalie Wilson won in straight sets in Flight 4 to get GSU on the board. In Flight 3, Milani Pickering and Delaney Rohan battled out a three-set win, but the Wildcats earned victories on the other three courts to clinch.
The Panthers move to 18-5 on the season as two big contests loom Saturday. GSU will face off with two CCSA opponents in host Tulane and LSU. The two matches could have large implications on the seeding for the CCSA Tournament in Emerson, Ga., April 22-24. The Panthers are currently 4-2 in conference matches.
