* No. 9 Georgia State (19-6, 5-3 CCSA) split on Day 1 at the FSU Beach Tournament.
* The Panthers swept College of Charleston 5-0 and lost 3-2 to No. 3 Florida State.
* GSU takes on North Florida and UAB tomorrow in the final regular-season matches of the year.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Competing at the Florida State Beach Tournament, Georgia State's No. 9 beach volleyball team swept College of Charleston, but lost to No. 3 Florida State to go 1-1 on the day.
The Panthers now sit at 20-7 (5-4 CCSA) going into the final day of the regular season. With the 5-0 win over the CofC Cougars, the Panthers notched their first 20-win season in the program's four-year history.
GSU may be the only team in the country to face the No. 1-2-3 teams and six matches vs. top 10 tams with losses to No. 1 Pepperdine, No. 2 Southern Cal, No. 3 Florida State, No. 7 Arizona, No. 9 FIU (twice) and No. 18 Tulane. The Panthers scored against every top team, dropping two 4-1 matches and two 3-2 matches to the four top 7 teams. GSU has also beaten the No. 8 and No. 9 teams in the national poll. That certainly shows a strength of schedule by one of the nation's top programs.
The Panthers take on North Florida tomorrow at 1 p.m. and close the regular season with a 4 p.m. contest against conference-foe UAB.
