BOCA RATON, Fla. – Georgia State's beach volleyball team began its 2016 campaign at the Burrow Beach Bash Saturday in Boca Raton, going 2-1 on the day with a 4-1 win over North Florida, a 5-0 sweep of Webber and a 3-2 loss to FAU.
Eighth-ranked Georgia State (2-1, 0-1 CCSA) began the day against North Florida, getting wins at Flights 1-4, but losing in the fifth spot. The Panthers then faced off against Webber, defeating the Warriors in all five flights and in the exhibition contest. GSU closed out the day with a tough, 3-2 loss to conference-foe FAU. It was the Panthers' first loss to the Owls in the two sides' sixth meeting all-time.
GSU had two pairs go undefeated on the day in Jansen Button/Sara Olivova and Delaney Rohan/Milani Pickering. Olivova and Button were named to the preseason All-CCSA team after collecting All-America honors as juniors last season.

Georgia State hosts Mercer on Wednesday at the GSU Sand Courts for the 2016 home opener. The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start and admission is FREE.
