* Georgia State (8-1) earned two 5-0 sweeps Sunday to close out the North Florida Invitational in St. Augustine, Fla.
* Georgia State beat Florida Atlantic and host North Florida to improve to 8-1 on the season.
* The Panthers travel to Columbia, S.C. for the second time this season to play No. 4 Florida State, UAB, Tulane and Arizona State.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Georgia State's sand volleyball team came out strong Sunday to close out the North Florida Invitational with a pair of 5-0 sweeps over FAU and host North Florida. The wins move GSU to 8-1 this spring.
Like Saturday, the Panthers rose with the sun to play in the first action of the day. Georgia State took on the Florida Atlantic Owls and took care of business, winning all five matches in straight sets. Milani Pickering and Majda Dostalova slid up one spot to the No. 2 match while Alexis Elmurr teamed up with Kate Rawls at No. 3. Sara Olivova and Jansen Button got back in the win column with their 21-16, 21-19 win at the top spot.
In the second match of the day, the Panthers battled the host Ospreys of North Florida. For the fifth time this spring, GSU swept the competition to win 5-0. Button and Olivova won once again at No. 1 as did Pickering and Dostalova at No. 2. In the third spot, Rawls paired with Nina Interwies to pick up a win with her fourth different partner. Natalie Wilson and Delaney Rohan improved to 11-1 with a straight-set win at No. 4 and Jessica Fourspring played with Alexis Townsend in the fifth match and won 21-15, 21-12.
Georgia State travels to Columbia, S.C. next weekend and will meet No. 4 Florida State as well as Tulane, UAB and Arizona State.
