LITTLE ROCK, ARK.- Georgia State lost its first Sun Belt game of the season with a tough 3-0 loss to on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers are now 8-2-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference.
The Panthers could get little offensive momentum going, being held to only eight shots in the game. This was a season low for the team, which now has 222 shots in 13 games.
Ashley Nagy once again led the team with three shots, two of which were on goal. Nagy now has 36 shots this season.
Going into the half trailing 1-0, the Panthers weren't able to overcome the deficit and only got two shots in during the second half.
GSU had four saves, three from Christa Fox, in the shutout. The team now has a combined 46 saves, with 36 from Fox, ranking second in the Sun Belt for goals against the average.
“We didn't play our best soccer today. Getting scored on right before the half really took the air out of us. Little Rock played well but we need to get back to playing at a much faster tempo than we did today,” head coach Derek Leader said of the loss.
Georgia State continues conference play against rival Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. Oct. 11. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
