Nagy, Fox Help Earn Panthers Final Regular Season Win

BOONE, N.C.- Georgia State closed out the 2015 regular season with an impressive 1-0 win over Appalachian State on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Ashley Nagy scored the game-winning goal for the Panthers in the first minute of the match. Nagy finished the regular season with six goals and leads the team with three game-winning goals.

After the goal the team focused on defensive strategy holding Appalachian State to just six shots in the game. Nagy continued to lead the team in shots per game, with three. Senior Jenna Moore posted two shots and junior Alexis Thomas had one. All of the Panthers' shots were on goal.

Senior Christa Fox also had an impressive game, recording five saves. The Mountaineers outshot the Panthers 11-6, but Fox's five saves kept Appalachian State out of the net. Fox now has 55 saves and five shutouts this season.

"That's the way we wanted to end the regular season. This win was huge for us leading into the conference tournament," head coach Derek Leader said.

Georgia State finished the regular season with 13 points in conference to earn the No. 6 seed, and will play No. 3 Texas State at 7 p.m. on Nov. 4.

The Panthers will host the tournament in Panthersville Nov. 4-8.
