SAN MARCOS, TX.- After a tough double-overtime win Sunday, the Panthers fell 4-1 at Texas State to four second-half goals by the hosts. Senior Ashley Nagy led GSU with four shots and now has 46 for the season.

With an Arkansas State loss Friday, GSU officially clinched one of the eight spots in the Sun Belt tournament as the Panthers are tied for sixth place.

The team was able to hold the 11-5 Bobcats to just four shots in the first period, and went into the halftime 0-0. Senior Christa Fox had two saves before the half, three total, to give her 50 career saves.

Junior Alexis Thomas had the Panthers' only goal, putting the team behind the Bobcats 2-1 with only 17 minutes in the match. The unassisted goal was the third of the season for Thomas.

Georgia State was able to outshoot Texas State in the second half, but two saves from the Bobcats kept the Panthers from scoring again. GSU had 12 shots to 11 for Texas State, but two shots missed by inches for GSU.

“We did a very poor job with our primary responsibilities. When it came to scoring, we hit the crossbar twice. Defensively, we just didn't do our job in the second half,” head coach Derek Leader said of the game.

The Panthers head to Appalachian State on Sunday for the final game of the regular season. The match is set to kickoff at 1 p.m.
