Panthers Lose 1-0 Battle To Top-Ranked Jaguars

*Georgia State lost a tough 1-0 decision to South Alabama on Friday night, the top-ranked team in the Sun Belt.

* The Panthers will host Troy for Senior Day on Sunday at 1 p.m., in the final regular season home game of the year.
* Georgia State will head to Texas State and Appalachian State next weekend to end regular season play, before hosting the conference tournament in Atlanta.


ATLANTA- In the final Friday night home game in the regular season for the Panthers, Georgia State lost a 1-0 battle with first-place South Alabama.

The Panthers played a defensively aggressive game, holding the Jaguars to no goals in the first half and first 75 minutes of play. The only goal of the game came in the final 11 minutes of the game.

Senior Christa Fox posted six saves, just one shy of her season high. Fox now has 46 saves this season.

The Panthers, focused on defense, were held to a season low of seven shots, tying their previous low of seven at Arkansas State. Senior Jenna Moore led the team in shots with three, one being on goal.

“I thought we played great soccer tonight. South Alabama is a very good team and I was proud of how we played. Now we have to set our sights on the final three matches,” head coach Derek Leader said of the game.

Georgia State's season slate is 8-4-3 overall and 2-3-1 in Sun Belt action.

The final home game for the Panthers will be Sunday at 1 p.m. against second-place Troy (12-3, 5-1), with Senior Day activities beginning pregame.
