ATLANTA – Georgia State women's golf coach Cathy Mant has welcomed a pair of international student-athletes to the squad as the 2013-14 season gets underway. Solene Le Coz of France and Joo eun Bae of South Korea both have impressive international resumes and will compete for spots in the line-up immediately.
“Solene and Joe eun are very experienced young golfers who I think with bring a lot of talent to our program,” Mant said. “Each has a great deal of international experience and will challenge for spots in our line-up this season.”
Le Coz played throughout Europe while attending Lycee Albert Schweitzer High School in Le Raincy, France, just outside of Paris. In nine tournaments in 2013, Le Coz had a 76.4 scoring average, including a round of 70 in the French International Championship at Saint Cloud. She finished 14th in the Italian International Ladies Championship and won the Paris Region Championship.
In 2012, Le Coz was a member of the Ozoir Golf Club team championship second division, before moving to the Racing Club de France La Boulie. That club went on to win the French Championship in 2013.
In 2009, she played in the U17 French Championship, shooting 69 at Saint Cloud and then in 2011, shot 71 at Chantilly Vineuil (Old Course) in the French Ladies Championship.
Le Coz is also an experienced tennis player, having played for seven years before deciding to focus her attention to golf. She is the youngest of three children to Pascale and Philippe Le Coz. She has two older brothers, Mael and Quentin. Le Coz intends to international business.
Bae is originally from Seoul, South Korea, but has been competing at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. She has competed on four different junior tours since coming to the United States and compiled some impressive finishes as well.
Bae garnered six top-10 finishes on the HJGT Tour, including a second place finish at the HJGT Championship, shooting 76-77 for a second place finish in 2010. She finished tied for 13th with a pair of 77s in the 2013 event. She also finished fourth in the HJGT Northeast Florida Junior Open with a second-round 76 and second at the HJGT 5th Anniversary Kickoff at Amelia Island.
On the IMG Junior Golf Tour, Bae finished second at the Southern Hills Plantation Club event and fifth at the Marriott Grande Pines tournament, with an eighth-place finish at the World Golf Village.
She also earned a seventh-place finish at the AJGA's Prairie Landing tournament and eighth at the FCWT's Plantation Inn Golf Resort & Spa event.
Bae is one of two children to Okyi Kim and Jong Yong Bae. She has one older sister, Daeun. She plans to major in art at Georgia State.
Georgia State will open the season Sept. 20-22 at the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman in Greenville, S.C.
