Late Penalty Kick Downs GSU

Georgia State women's soccer (7-5-6, 1-4-5) fell 1-0 to Drexel (4-12-1, 2-7-1) on a penalty kick in the 76th minute Sunday in Philadelphia, Penn.

"We gave up a goal on a penalty kick when, really, nothing was going very well for either team," said Georgia State head coach Domenic Martelli. "We'll have to refocus and play a much better game against UNC Wilmington."

Junior Heidi Blankenship had another strong performance, stopping six shots to push her league-leading season total to 121. Blankenship had her scoreless streak snapped at 327 minutes when Drexel scored the game-winner.

The Panthers' defense has only allowed 12 goals in Colonial Athletic Association play, this season. With one game remaining, Georgia State is on pace to shatter their previous record for fewest conference goals allowed, 18.

Drexel's Katie Duncan scored in the 76th minute on a penalty kick to put the game away. The goal is the first Georgia State's defense has given up since their match against Northeastern on Oct. 16.

Georgia State wraps up the season next Friday, Oct. 30 as they travel to UNC Wilmington for a 7 p.m. start. A full recap of the action will be posted and live stats available at www.GeorgiaStateSports.com.
