ATLANTA -- Georgia State defensive backs Chandon Sullivan and Bobby Baker have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 football team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Sullivan, a junior cornerback from Winder, Ga., was selected for the second straight year, the first repeat honoree in GSU football history. The journalism major is a three-year starter in the secondary who earned All-Sun Belt Conference accolades in 2015.
Sullivan is Georgia State's career leader with six interceptions, including three this season, along with 26 tackles, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Baker is a senior safety from Sherman Oaks, Calif., majoring in speech. Named to the Sun Belt All-Newcomer team in 2015, he is a two-time Sun Belt Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, including this year's game against Wisconsin, when he had a career-high 11 tackles, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery. He is second on the team in tackles with 55 and has a GSU-record five career fumble recoveries and four interceptions.
Baker was tabbed to preseason watch lists for the Senior Bowl and Jim Thorpe Award and was a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation William V. Campbell Trophy.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher and be a starter or important reserve.
All first-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballots, where first, second and third-team All-America selections take place.
