Beach Volleyball Finishes Spring 2022 with Top Team GPA in Athletics

ATLANTA— Coming off the most successful NCAA Tournament run by any Georgia State team across all sports throughout the school's history, the Georgia State beach volleyball team finished the spring 2022 season with the top team GPA in athletics for the spring semester at 3.74.

Maddy Delmonte, Kelly Dorn, Ayla Johnson and Tyler Lindgren all received President's List honors having earned a GPA of 4.0 or higher. Angel Ferary, Bella Ferary, Eden Hawes, Chloee Kleespies, Yasmin Kuck, Bailey Hatchett, Kayla Whetstone and Destiny White were included on the Dean's List (3.5-3.99 GPA), while Elise Saga and Courtney Smith were named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0-3.49 GPA).

Beach volleyball was followed by women's golf with a 3.72 GPA and softball with a 3.71 GPA.

Twelve GSU teams posted a team GPA above 3.0 for the spring. Eight teams finished the spring with a GPA of 3.45 or higher, including cross country (3.65), women's tennis (3.65), women's soccer (3.52), court volleyball (3.45) and men's tennis (3.45).

A total of 219 student-athletes earned academic honors with a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Forty-six student-athletes achieved President's List recognition for the fall, Georgia State's highest academic distinction. Ninety-one individuals earned Dean's List status with a semester GPA of 3.5-3.99, and an additional 80 student-athletes were named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The athletic department charted a 3.19 GPA for spring 2022 and a 3.21 grade point average for the 2021-22 academic year across all sports, marking the 28th consecutive semester that Georgia State Athletics has maintained a GPA (semester or cumulative) of 3.0 or higher. The academic achievement comes in a year that saw GSU Athletics enjoy unprecedented success with four NCAA Tournament teams, three NCAA wins, three conference titles and a football bowl victory.

The spring GPA of 3.19 ties the fourth-highest semester on record for the athletic department. The only semesters with higher GPAs than the fall (3.24) and spring of this year came in spring 2020 (3.40) and spring 2017 (3.30).
