Ruiz is Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week

Georgia State placekicker Noel Ruiz is the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after booting three field goals and an extra point in Georgia State's 30-24 victory over Georgia Southern.

Ruiz's third field goal of the game was a 35-yard boot that gave the Panthers a six-point lead with less than two minutes to play, helping seal the rivalry win and give Georgia State a 5-4 (4-4 Sun Belt) regular-season record.

In the game, Ruiz hit field goals of 35, 29 and 35 yards and scored 10 points.

He was also recognized by the Lou Groza Award as one of its three "Stars of the Week."

For the season, Ruiz leads Sun Belt kickers with 7.9 points per game (second among all players) and 1.38 field goals per game.

The graduate transfer from Wilson, N.C.,ranks sixth among all active FBS kickers with 313 career points, fourth with 169 PAT and 13th with 48 career field goals.
