ATLANTA--With the start of the 2013 baseball season approaching, the Georgia State Baseball Complex at Panthersville is undergoing continued improvements to better serve both student-athletes and fans.
The latest project at the Panthers' home facility will give the GSU program remodeled dugouts for both the home and visiting teams, including extended roofs and new benches, counters, lighting and rubber flooring. The home dugout also features a new entrance with corresponding sidewalks to access the Reeves Fieldhouse.
The Panthers will also experience enhancements on the diamond following the laser-leveling of the playing surface.
Fans will enjoy an enhanced entrance to the GSU Baseball Complex, featuring new sidewalks, columns and signage as well as upgraded landscaping.
"We are excited about the opportunity to improve the playing surface and upgrade the amenities available to our student-athletes and coaches while also enhancing the fan experience for our patrons, all at the same time," said Bryan Elliott, the director of facilities for GSU Athletics and the project manager for this construction.
Head coach also Greg Frady looks forward to these latest improvements at the GSU Baseball Complex.
"I am excited about the improvements to our current home in Panthersville," said Frady. "The student-athletes currently on our roster deserve the best facilities that we can give them. We have exciting plans for a future downtown facility, but Panthersville is our current home and we want to make it the best home field advantage. Our fans will notice the improvements immediately to the entrance, exterior perimeter, warning track, dugout renovation and fresh paint throughout the facilities. With the start of the season just around the corner, these improvements create an excitement for opening day."
The Panthers will begin official team practice Feb. 1, and then Georgia State opens the 2013 season by hosting Butler for a three-game series Feb. 15-17 at the GSU Baseball Complex.
