ATLANTA - The Georgia State women's soccer team will look to continue
its current winning streak with a home match against UT Martin on Friday.
The Panthers (3-3) will take on the Skyhawks (3-4-1) at 7
p.m. following the Georgia State men's soccer team's match against Georgia
Southern at 4 p.m.
This is only the second ever meeting between Georgia State
and UT Martin. The first meeting came in 2011 and the Skyhawks came out on top
with a 2-0 victory. Georgia State will look to tie up the head-to-head record with
a victory Friday night.
The Panthers are currently on a two-game winning streak,
with wins at home against Mercer and on the road at Georgia Southern. The
Friday night match against UT Martin will be the only the game this weekend
Georgia State will play.
“We are excited for Friday night's double-header of Georgia State
soccer,” coach Derek Leader said. “There are going to be a lot of people at the
GSU Soccer Complex between the two games, and we are ready to follow up our two
recent wins with another one. It will be nice to play at home before leading
into the conference and several road matches. The girls have been training hard
and are ready to go.”
Following Friday's match, the team will have a one week
break before embarking on a two-game road trip. On Friday, Sept. 21, Georgia
State will travel to Boston to take on Northeastern and on Sunday the Panthers
will visit Hempstead, N.Y., to take on Hofstra.
The men's soccer team will take on Georgia Southern at 4
p.m., followed by the women's soccer team against UT Martin at 7 p.m. on
Friday. Admission, as always, is free
for matches at the GSU Soccer Complex.
