Four First Place Finishes For Track at UGA Relays

ATHENS, Ga. — First place finishes by three individuals and one relay team highlighted the Georgia State track and field teams' trip to Athens, Ga. for the UGA Relays Friday and Saturday, March 23-24.

Tamara Moore won the women's 100m hurdles in a time of 13.91 on the first day of competition. Leah Norman placed 11th in the event by running 14.96.

Kacee Houle and Jennifer Rubel swept the top two spots in the women's 10,000m by running 38:13.62 and 38:23.70, respectively.

Valentin Poncelet won the men's 1,500m in 3:51.93. A total of eight Panthers competed in the race, including Chris Harper (3:57.89) in eighth place and Tyler Tomy (3:59.28) in 10th.

In the women's 1,500m, nine Georgia State participants were paced by Niamh Kearney (4:38.58) and Katharine Showalter (4:39.52) in fourth and fifth.

The women's 4x200m took the top spot by compiling a time of 1:37.49. Each of the Panther relay teams performed well as the women's 4x400 team placed second and the women's 4x100m and men's 4x200 both finished in third place.

Alison Bishop ran a time of 11:38.92 to place third in the women's 3,000m steeplechase.

In the men's 400m, Cory Smith crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 52.31.

The competition started Friday afternoon with the women's hammer where Kesean Henderson finished eight after throwing 38.63m (126' 9”). Carresa Reeves and Sydney Henry followed by placing ninth and 11th in the women's shot put. Reeves also competed in the discus.

Tatiana Colbert was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.77m. Gabby Brooks earned a pair of seventh place finishes in the long jump and 400m. Aniya Moore placed 11th in the triple jump with a best effort of 11.36m (37' 3.25”).

The Panther track and field teams return to Atlanta for their next competition, the Yellow Jacket Invite on Sat., March 31 on the campus of Georgia Tech.
